HIGH SCHOOL TRYOUTS: HOW TO EARN YOUR SPOT

Tryouts aren’t about your highlight reel. They’re about showing coaches you understand what wins games.

Here’s what gets you on the roster:

1. INTENSITY on both ends Coaches can teach skill. They can’t teach effort. Play every possession like it matters because at tryouts, it does. Defense is where you prove you’re serious.

2. COMMUNICATE constantly Be loud. Call out screens, rotations, cuts. Make yourself heard on both sides of the ball. Silent players are invisible players.

3. BE AGGRESSIVE Attack the rim. Crash the boards. Dive for loose balls. Make others around you uncomfortable. Passive players don’t make varsity teams.

4. BE A GOLDFISH Forget the last play immediately. Bad shot? Move on. Turnover? Next possession. Your body language and attitude tell coaches everything about your mental game.

The players who make it aren’t always the most talented. They’re the ones who make coaches believe they’ll compete, listen, and make the team better.

Earn your spot. Build your Legacy.
