Okay, so I’ve been to a bunch of PGC Basketball Camps now – hit up spots in the Northeast and Texas – and I’m gonna be real with you. This isn’t just another boring basketball camp where they make you run suicides all day. Point Guard College (PGC) actually knows what they’re doing, and the coaches they bring in are legit.
The Community is Insane (In a Good Way)
First off, these camps are HUGE. We’re talking 150-250 kids, both guys and girls, ranging from like 8-year-olds to seniors in high school. What’s crazy is that over half these kids travel from out of town just to be there. I’ve met kids from Mexico, Europe, Asia, and all over Latin America. It’s wild playing ball with someone who learned the game on the other side of the world.
The competition? Bro, it’s no joke. These aren’t your local rec center players – everyone here came to PLAY. The absolute best part is championship night when we literally play until past midnight trying to crown a winner. This year my team made it to the second-to-last bracket, and even though we didn’t win it all, those late-night games hit different. Pure adrenaline.
Actually Learning Basketball (Not Just Playing Around)
Here’s what separates PGC from other basketball camps – they actually teach you basketball IQ. Yeah, we play tons of games, but there are also classroom sessions where they break down the mental side of the game. Sounds boring, but it’s actually pretty cool learning why certain plays work and how to read defenses better.
Since most camps are held at big college campuses (shoutout to that Texas college campus life), you get a taste of what playing college ball might be like. Plus, you’re guaranteed to make friends that you’ll stay in touch with forever.

Look, I’m not gonna lie – PGC camps are intense and you better come ready to work. Like, seriously, pack extra energy drinks or something because you’re gonna need them. But if you actually care about getting better at basketball and want to play against some of the best young players in the world, this is it.
The coaching is elite, the competition is real, and you’ll have stories to tell for years. Plus, playing until midnight on championship night? That’s just epic.
