I see you walking into that gym when your legs are still sore from yesterday. I see you staying after practice to work on those free throws when everyone else has already left. I see you choosing water over soda, sleep over late-night gaming sessions, the gym over hanging out.
I know some nights you lie in bed wondering if you’re good enough. If all this sacrifice is worth it. If you’re crazy for believing in a dream that feels so far away.
But here’s what I also see: I see your shot getting more consistent every week. I see you diving for loose balls like your life depends on it. I see you encouraging your teammates even when you’re having an off night. I see you studying film, asking questions, always trying to get better.
Your parents see it too – the way you’ve grown up through this game. How you handle disappointment differently now. How you carry yourself with more confidence. How you’ve learned that respect is earned, not given.
I know the whole process feels overwhelming. I know watching those highlight videos online makes you question where you stand. I know you wonder when your turn will come.
But your story isn’t their story. Your timeline isn’t their timeline.
Some players peak early and fade. Others take longer to develop but become unstoppable. You’re building something solid – fundamentals that won’t abandon you, work habits that will serve you for life, and a mental toughness that can’t be taught in any camp.
The truth is, I don’t know exactly where basketball will take you. Maybe it’s a full ride to your dream school. Maybe it’s a smaller college where you’ll be the star. Maybe it’s overseas, or maybe basketball becomes the foundation for something else entirely amazing.
What I do know is this: the person you’re becoming through this journey is already worth everything you’re putting into it.
We got you no matter what. Through the victories and the defeats, the scholarships and the rejections, the moments when you feel unstoppable and the nights when you question everything. We’re here for all of it.
