Real talk — this game was born the same way the best basketball conversations are. Group of us just got done hooping. Everybody’s tired, everybody’s got opinions, and somebody starts running off names. Okay, name a player for every letter of the alphabet. Go.
What followed was pure chaos. Arguments. Blanks on letters nobody thought would be hard. Somebody getting clowned for not knowing who plays for their favorite team. Good times. That’s where the NBA ABC Challenge was born — and HoopWrld built it into something real.

Like Wordle, a fresh challenge drops every single day. Unlike Wordle, the game is racing you. Shot clock pressure on every letter. A live leaderboard showing where you rank globally. And rarity tiers that reward going deep on your knowledge — not just naming LeBron and Steph and calling it a day.

Every letter scores different. Tier 5 answers (Luc Longley, Xavier McDaniel) hit different than naming LeBron for L. The game tells you exactly when you left points on the table — and trust, you will.
What You’re Getting Into
- One shot clock. Racing the clock every single letter. Hesitate and you’re paying for it.
- Rarity Tiers (T1–T5). Naming Steph for S is fine. Naming Shaedon Sharpe is better. The game rewards basketball IQ, not just recognition.
